Motif rules
Underline, used sparingly. The brush underline is a spotlight, not a decoration. Use it on the one word that carries the idea — never on every headline, never on whole phrases. If a headline reads strongly without it, leave it off.
Mont + TAN balance. When stacking Montserrat ExtraBold and TAN Aegean, size TAN at roughly 1.4× the Montserrat point size. TAN's cap height is shorter per em, so equal point sizes make it read small.
Breathing room depends on the glyphs. Leading between a Mont row and a TAN row isn't one fixed number — it changes with what's stacked. Start in the 0.12× – 0.45× TAN point size range and tune by eye:
Tight (~0.12×) when no Mont descender meets no TAN ascender, e.g. "Social / Scene".
Medium (~0.25×) when TAN has ascenders or serifed caps that climb — R, P, K, l.
Loose (~0.45×+) when Mont has a descender (g, p, y) directly above a TAN ascender.
TAN-free fallback. If TAN Aegean is not available (e.g. email, Office apps without custom fonts), set both rows in Montserrat — ExtraBold row 1, Medium/Regular row 2. Lean on weight contrast and, if needed, a single color shift (lime) to preserve the double-decker rhythm.
